Why should I choose Concordia? We often hear this question from prospective students. There are compelling reasons to choose a Concordia university education.

Why Concordia? Our institutional vision promises the sort of university education that results in graduates who are recognized for their knowledge, skill, integrity, and wisdom.

Why Concordia? We have a rich history dating back to 1921, a history that includes a tradition of academic engagement and a culture of care for students both in and out of classes.

Why Concordia? Our graduates leave well prepared and ready to pursue further studies or careers in their chosen area.

Why Concordia? Survey results demonstrate that our students rank a Concordia education and experience as being amongst the best in Canada.

Why Concordia? We offer a collegial community atmosphere, where students and professors connect on a personal basis in small classes.

It is indeed humbling to have been selected to lead our community of scholars as Concordia’s 8th president. I have been at Concordia for 14 years, with most of that time spent teaching and researching in the Faculty of Education, and later as a Dean and then Vice President Academic and Provost. I have always been impressed with the students who choose Concordia, and even more impressed with our graduates. If there is one thing I know about Concordia it is that our students receive a first-rate education, and that those who choose to come here form lifelong bonds with those they encounter during their studies, be they other students, professors, or staff members.

My ambition is to see Concordia become Canada’s preeminent small university. This is achievable because we have dedicated staff, exceptional professors, and some of the brightest students in Canada and internationally. We are well on our way. I look forward to leading Concordia into her second century; one that I anticipate will be even sunnier than her first. My hope is that you, like so many before you, will choose to study here with us and participate in Concordia’s future.

Tim Loreman, PhD.
President and Vice-Chancellor
